The pure expression of Merlot
First created in 2002 and produced in limited quantities, BALTHUS is born from two carefully selected plots of clay-limestone and clay-gravel soils. Made exclusively from Merlot, this iconic cuvée is made through a unique winemaking process, with fermentation taking place entirely in new oak barrels, using a technique developped and patented by Yves Vatelot.
This technique brings remarkable depth, silky texture and complexity to BALTHUS, a wine with a long finish and an exceptional aging potential.
